The papers include correspondence, notes, essays, addresses and publications relating to Vroland's educational reforms and teaching materials such as class notes, teaching aids and exam papers. The collection also contains a large amount of correspondence, reports, notes and photographs pertaining to Vroland and his wife's fight for the rights of Aborigines. Also included are papers concerned with the Australian Church, the New Education Fellowship, the United Nation's role in education, and the economic situation in the 1930s and 1940s in Australia.

Victorian educationist, Anton Vroland was a primary school teacher for 48 years and headmaster of Elsternwick State School before retiring in 1939. He wrote and spoke frequently on education, his theories and methods of teaching being more advanced than his time. He was active in the Victorian Teachers' Union, the New Education Fellowship, the Australian Labor Party, the Australian Church and both he and his wife, Anna, did much to help the Aborigines in Victoria and Western Australia. ...
